なんと今日は素敵なゲストが学校にいらっしゃいました。木版画で有名な 名嘉睦稔さんです。
Grade 4 had an awesome visitor today, Mr. Bokunen Naka! He is an artist who is famous for his “Woodcarve Print”.

4学年で取り組んだ版画のプロジェクトが完成したのでアミークスに見に来てくださったのです。4学年では、10月から1月にかけて、睦稔さん流の版画に取り組みました。まず10月に名嘉睦稔さんのギャラリーに直接足を運び、睦稔さんの作品の前で下絵を描きました。
Grade 4 students had worked on Mr. Bokunen’s style woodcarve printing as an art project together from October to January. First, students visited Mr. Bokunen’s museum and drew their art at the museum. Many students were very inspired by Mr. Bokunen’s artwork. After the museum, students worked on two projects, individual project and the grade level project.

子ども達は個人の作品はもちろん、学年での巨大版画にも取り組みました。下絵の上から彫刻刀で彫り、墨をつけて印刷し、そして裏から色をつけるという長いプロジェクトでしたが、子ども達一人ひとりの個性が光る多くの作品ができあがりました。
 All students carved and printed their own. All students worked on a big grade-level artwork together for carving. After we printed out, we colored from the backside of the picture so that the color will stand out.

大人が思っている以上に、子ども達は才能に溢れています。今回のプロジェクトから、子ども達の才能に気付かされることが多くありました。
 It is astonishing that all students were truly artists. Yes, children can do so much more than the adults think!
