【EL】G6 learned about alien species!

The 6th graders are preparing for their school trip coming up.

Their destination is the northern part of the main island of Okinawa called “Yanbaru,” which was designated as a World Natural Heritage site in July this year.

The other day, we invited a lecturer from Endemic Garden H and had a preliminary study session.

Yanbaru is a place of rich nature, but with the increase of “alien” plants and animals, it is becoming more difficult for native Okinawan species to survive.

In order to protect Okinawa’s unique animals and plants, the 6th graders will learn about invasive alien species in advance and volunteer to remove them during the school trip.

The children listened to the two-hour lecture seriously, actively answering questions and quizzes!

May the 6th graders enjoy the nature of Okinawa and may they have a school trip full of learning!
