On Tuesday, June 3rd, the Elementary School Sports Day rehearsal was held at the Okinawa City Gymnasium. In this spacious and well-equipped facility, with effective air conditioning and a comfortable environment, each child delivered a truly impressive performance.
Every morning, the children at AMICUS greet me with bright smiles. During recess, they sometimes even invite me to join in their play. No matter what they do, they are simply too adorable! (laugh)
Seeing those children confidently, cheerfully, and energetically performing on such a big stage—even though it was just a rehearsal—moved me deeply many times.
The performances, which included solemn traditional Okinawan dances, powerful karate demonstrations, dynamic Eisa, and modern dance routines, were a uniquely AMICUS stage—created by children from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds coming together as one. The sixth graders’ dance, in particular, was breathtaking. Their intense focus and high level of performance seemed to take full command of the stage, drawing thunderous applause from the other grades.
And most of all, the highlight of the day was the final scene, where all the students danced with radiant smiles. Their joyful energy filled the entire gymnasium and brought me great strength and happiness as I watched.
I am truly grateful for the heartwarming moments I receive every day from these wonderful children.
To all parents—please look forward to seeing their performances on the actual performance day!
It will be truly moving and unforgettable!
