Recently, an international exchange event was held at AMICUS Junior High School. This special event was planned and organized by “Matahari Okinawa,” a group formed by AMICUS alumni!

Matahari supports international exchange between children living in foster care facilities in Okinawa and Malaysia.

The event began with an English presentation by the alumni team from Matahari!

Next, we split into six groups where Malaysian students introduced their hometowns. Surrounded by nature, beautiful coastlines, and rich culture — many AMICUS students remarked on how similar these places felt to Okinawa, saying things like, “It feels familiar somehow.”

Then, some of the AMICUS students shared their thoughts and reflections in English. They talked about things like, “I’d love to visit Malaysia one day,” and “I want to do something meaningful to help others in the future.” The comments showed just how deeply the experience had impacted them.

After that, everyone learned about traditional Malaysian clothing, dances, and songs.
Dancing in a circle to local songs, the room was filled with joy and smiles! It was a truly precious moment that showed how hearts can connect beyond language.

To wrap up the event, we all gathered for a commemorative photo. The group picture, full of bright smiles, was the perfect way to conclude this heartwarming exchange.
