Looking Back the AMICUS Junior High School Performance Day!

Eighty years after World War II, we are able to live with smiles and joy, thanks to the many people who devoted themselves to rebuilding our society.

On Saturday, June 28, AMICUS Junior High School held this year’s Performance Day!
The production was “Pigs from Across the Sea”—a one-and-a-half-hour musical based on the true story of seven courageous Uchinanchu(Okinawan) from Hawai‘i who, after learning about the hardships Okinawa faced after World War II, overcame many challenges to deliver 550 live pigs to the island.

From planning and production to sound and stage direction, every part of the performance was created by the students themselves!
The play was performed entirely in English with Japanese subtitles, making it enjoyable for everyone! Many students took on multiple roles, and the backstage was full of energy and excitement!

In the final scene, when the pigs were safely delivered to Okinawa, the entire hall was filled with applause and cheers.
This moving performance, brought to life through each student’s effort and teamwork, became a finale that truly reflected their growth!!
