Following our recent blog post about the AMICUS Summer Camp for younger students, we’re excited to share the highlights from our camp for upper elementary and junior high school students!
The goal of the AMICUS Summer Camp is to give local students who don’t often get to use English an opportunity to experience the joy of not just learning the language, but actually using it.
A total of 43 students participated. On the first day, the students seemed a bit nervous, but as they went through our unique three-day activities—including horseback riding and pizza making!
They started to smile and naturally challenged themselves to communicate in English!
It was joy for us, the teachers, great joy to see them try to express their thoughts, starting with simple words like “Hello!” and “Thank you!”.
On the last day, they had made a bunch of new camp friends and were all smiles. We hope this camp sparked a curiosity for learning English that will stick with them.
We were also happy to see parents join us on the final day to witness their children’s growth.
Thank you to all the students who participated, and to the parents who cheered them on!
