Grade 1 Field Trip: Our First Snorkeling Adventure

At AMICUS, students from Grade 1 to Grade 4 have the opportunity to go snorkeling once a year as part of their field trip program!
This time, we are excited to share the story of our first graders experiencing snorkeling for the very first time♪

Before the trip, the children studied sea creatures in class, drew sketches, and, through the Japanese class unit “Umi no Kakurenbo” (Hide-and-Seek in the Sea), they wondered together, “How do sea creatures hide?” and “Why do they hide?”—all while getting more and more excited for the big day!

And then, the long-awaited snorkeling day finally arrived!
Some children felt a little nervous at first, but once they entered the ocean with their instructor and friends, they quickly got into searching for sea creatures.

They pointed with delight whenever they spotted small fish hiding among the rocks, colorful fish, or even big ones!
They also had the chance to touch starfish and sea cucumbers, carefully noticing the differences in how each one felt.
After snorkeling, the children hopped on a banana boat and enjoyed the wide, beautiful blue ocean to the fullest!

Building on what they learn every day at school, the children explored the wonders of the sea and experienced moments of excitement. It truly was a memorable day they will never forget!
