Okinawan manga artist Mr. Momokokoro visited AMICUS to give a special class!

In particular, his four-panel comic “Gajumaru Family” is very popular among AMICUS students, and the 4th graders were excitedly waiting before the class even started!!

During the lesson, he first showed the students his “idea notebooks.” Amazingly, he has about 150 notebooks at home! Over his 20-year career as a manga artist, he has turned daily life events, hot news topics, and even the Okinawan dialect “Uchinaaguchi” into ideas, which he continues to publish every day in the local news paper “Ryukyu Shimpo” morning edition.

Next, the children learned how to express emotions and situations through drawings, which made the interactive class lively and fun. When they worked together to create original characters, many unique and imaginative designs were born, filling the classroom with laughter!

At the end of the lesson, Mr. Momokokoro also shared some rare rough sketches that students don’t usually get to see!

And on that very day, it seems that the name “AMICUS” even appeared in the morning paper! Did any of the students notice??
