The second semester at AMICUS started on October 14.
I was very happy to see all the students come back to school with big smiles and lots of energy.
On that day, we had our opening ceremony on Zoom.
The student representatives talked about fun events and their goals for the second semester.
I also talked about three important skills that I want all students to learn this term.
They are the following:
1. The skill to express your feelings in words.
When you feel happy, sad, or upset, try to say your feelings in your own words.
2. The skill to care for others.
Think about your friends’ feelings.
Say kind words like “Are you OK?”, “Cheer up!”, or “Let’s try together!”
If you care about others, they will care about you too.
3. The skill to control your feelings.
When you feel angry or things don’t go well, take a deep breath and calm down.
If you can stop and think, “What should I do?”, you will grow a lot.
These three skills look simple, but even adults sometimes find them difficult.
They are also important skills for the students’ future in society.
In this second semester, teachers and I will work together to help all AMICUS students learn these three skills little by little.
At home, please talk about these skills with your children and think about them together.
Let’s grow these three skills step by step.
I hope this semester will be a wonderful time of learning and growth for every student.
