【AMICUS Kindergarten/K2】Field Trip: Okinawa Meteorological Observatory

“What’s the weather like today?”

Recently, the senior kindergarten students at AMICUS Kindergarten have been looking up at the sky every day, full of curiosity about the shapes of clouds and changes in the weather.
From the classroom, comments such as
“That cloud looks like a sheep!” or “If it’s raining, will there be thunder?” can often be heard.

For the second term, the theme for the senior kindergarten class was decided: “Weather.”

As part of this learning, the students recently visited the Okinawa Meteorological Observatory, where they learned about how weather works from a specialist.
The children asked many curious questions, such as,
“Can we touch the clouds?” and “Why is lightning zigzag-shaped?”
These questions were answered in a clear and child-friendly way.

The students also had the chance to make their own clouds, listening with sparkling eyes and great excitement.

Some of the topics were a little challenging, but many students asked questions, shared ideas with friends, and thought things through together.
It became a very rich and meaningful learning experience.

At the end of the visit, the students took a photo with the Japan Meteorological Agency’s mascot character, “Harerun” 📸

After the tour, the students moved to Fureai Plaza for lunchtime.
They sat in circles, enjoyed their lunches together, and then played energetically on the playground equipment.

It was a wonderful day filled with both learning and fun!
