AMICUS Garden News

The lush AMICUS campus is home to many tropical plants!
Today, we’d like to share our top three beautiful blooms from the beginning of the 2025 school year.

1.  IRUKANDA (Mucuna macrocarpa) – The Phantom flower of Ryukyuan Mythology.
The flower language of Irukanda is “Hope.”
It is a leguminous vine that grows wild in Yanbaru region of Okinawa.
The name Irukanda comes from the Okinawan dialect: “iru” (color) and “kanda” (kazura: vine plant).

2. BOUGAINVILLEA – Wrapping the School in Vivid Pink!
Bougainvillea is well known for its vibrant tropical colors and lovely pink bracts.
It’s one of the most popular flowers on campus.
Its flower language is “Passion,” bringing a bright and cheerful atmosphere to AMICUS.

3. AZALEA – Coloring Spring in Japan
Azaleas have started blooming a little earlier here than on mainland Japan!
Their flower language is “Effort.”
The beautiful path lined with pink and white azaleas lifts our spirits and inspires us to keep moving forward!
