At AMICUS Junior High, students take part in overnight learning trips around this time each year. Each grade had its own theme — exploring nature, learning about peace, or enjoying time by the ocean! These two days were filled with meaningful learning experiences outside the classroom, and created wonderful memories for every junior high student.
7th Grade – Exploring Nago
This was the first overnight trip for the 7th graders, and some of them looked a little nervous at first!
They stayed at the Nago Youth Center and visited the Okinawa Agricultural College, Nago Museum, and 21st Century Forest Park.
With plenty of hands-on activities in nature and local culture, the students had a great time seeing and learning new things together
8th Grade – Learning About Peace in Nanjo and Itoman
The 8th graders focused on the theme of “peace.”
It was impressive to see the students visiting historical sites and engaging in the learning with such serious and focused expressions. They stayed at the Tamagusuku Youth Center and visited places such as Kakazu Ridge, the Former Navy Headquarters, the Himeyuri Peace Museum, and Okinawa Peace Park.
It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the importance of peace and the tragedies of war.
9th Grade – Ocean Adventures on Tokashiki Island
The 9th graders took a ferry to beautiful Tokashiki Island and stayed at the National Okinawa Youth Center.
They joined workshops like snorkeling and super floating, and enjoyed a fun BBQ dinner together. On the second day, they challenged themselves with kayaking, canoeing, and beach activities! They not only experienced the beauty of Okinawa’s ocean, but also learned the value of teamwork and shared adventure.
These overnight trips gave our students the chance to step outside their usual classroom environment and learn through real-world experiences.
What they saw, felt, and discovered will surely stay with them as they continue to grow.
And most importantly — we’re just so happy that everyone returned safe, smiling, and full of great stories to tell.
Welcome back, AMICUS students! You did great! 💛
