Learning About Dangerous Sea Creatures! ~Churaumi Aquarium~

At AMICUS Kindergarten, children choose a topic they are interested in each year and explore it through hands-on learning.

This year, the children were especially curious about “dangerous sea creatures.”
The ocean is home to many colorful and beautiful fish—but some of them are dangerous even though they look pretty.

To learn more, we invited a guest speaker from Churaumi Aquarium to talk to the children about these sea animals.
Their faces were serious and focused as they listened, eyes sparkling with curiosity and discovery.

To deepen their understanding, they went on a field trip to Churaumi Aquarium!

Many of the sea creatures they had seen in books and encyclopedias were now swimming right in front of them in giant tanks! The children watched it with great interest, and asked questions like, “Is this fish safe? Or is it dangerous?”

In the exhibition area, they were also able to see real specimens up close, such as jellyfish, sea snakes, and spiky sea urchins. We reminded everyone: If you see one in the wild, never touch it!

The children also enjoyed a dolphin show and got to meet a false killer whale.

Afterward, they had lunch at Ocean Expo Park.
Some children were so tired on the way back, they fell asleep on the bus. Their peaceful faces made us smile.

We look forward to seeing how this experience will lead to further learning and exploration.
