AMICUS Grade 1 – First Cooking Lesson

What’s the most iconic Okinawan sweet? You guessed it—Chinsuko!

Recently, our Grade 1 students had their very first cooking lesson and took on the challenge of making Chinsuko!!
We invited a guest teacher, Ms. Kyoko Tsuchiya, who kindly shared the secrets and recipes of this traditional Okinawan sweet!

The children listened attentively with serious expressions, then split into groups to start cooking.
They also enjoyed taking photos with volunteer parents who joined and supported the activity!

With flour all over their hands and faces, the children worked with great excitement, and their big smiles were truly unforgettable.

And finally—the big moment!
The Chinsuko they made turned out to be just as delicious as the ones sold in shops. Everyone—students, parents, and teachers—was full of smiles, pride, and a wonderful sense of accomplishment.

This cooking lesson gave the children a fun and memorable way to experience Okinawan history and traditions.

Together with parents and members of the local community, we will continue to warmly support the learning and growth of our students.

And of course, we’ll keep sharing their joyful learning experiences here on our blog—so stay tuned!!
