Okinawa AMICUS International recently hosted an Open Class for educators, welcoming over 130 participants from Okinawa.
The program provided opportunities to observe lessons across the entire school, from Grade 1 in elementary to Grade 9 in junior high, including specialized subjects such as music.
In the elementary school section, participants were warmly greeted with children’s bright smiles. They enjoyed observing students enthusiastically engaged in activities such as bingata dyeing and English lessons. The common areas of each grade were decorated with student’s creative work, which attracted great interest from visiting educators!!
In the junior high school section, visitors noted students’ focus during lessons and their active participation in group discussions! Many commented that they could truly feel the spirit of collaborative learning throughout the classrooms.
After the open class, a special dialogue was held on stage with Mr. Tamotsu Fujita, Director of the Center for Language Education and Research at Sophia University, Mr. Jacques Madsen, Chief Researcher at the Okinawa Prefectural Education Center, and AMICUS graduates. They offered thoughtful perspectives on the present and future of English education, including how educators can continue to support children’s learning. Our graduates also reflected on their experiences in English immersion education and the diverse learning environment at AMICUS. We hope the session served as a meaningful opportunity for all participants to reflect on the future of education.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who joined us. The event proved to be a highly meaningful experience for both the visiting educators and the AMICUS faculty!
At AMICUS, we will continue sharing school life and building on these experiences to further enhance our educational practices and support the growth of every student.
