AMICUS is a proud member of Round Square, an international network of private schools. As part of the exchange program held among Round Square member schools, we welcomed three short-term exchange students—two from Germany and one student from Singapore.
Following our earlier Germany Edition, this post focuses on the visit of a student from Singapore.
Last school year, one of our AMICUS students visited Singapore and was warmly welcomed by their host family. This year, the roles were happily reversed, as our student welcomed her Singaporean friend into her own home here in Okinawa. Sharing daily life together as host and guest made this cross-border reunion especially meaningful.
During her stay, the student enjoyed discovering what makes learning at AMICUS unique, often comparing it with school life back home. She was particularly interested in our compact daily schedule, which allows students to explore a wide variety of subjects. She also shared how much she appreciated the small class sizes, saying they made it easy to connect with everyone and feel part of a close, welcoming community.
One of the highlights of her visit was the overnight trip. At the talent show, she gave an impressive performance that showed just how strong the friendships had become. Swimming in the clear waters around Tokashiki Island and trying a large kayak together were also unforgettable moments and special memories of her time at AMICUS.
As her stay came to an end, she shared this heartfelt message:
“This exchange program was truly a wonderful experience. I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to experience a different culture and to meet so many new people.”
Visiting each other’s homes, building lasting friendships, and learning from one another—this is the heart of Round Square and what true international exchange is all about.
To our exchange students from Germany and Singapore, thank you so much for a wonderful time at AMICUS!
